Administrative Core

About

The Administrative (Admin) Core’s mission is to ensure the efficient and consistent functioning of the San Diego CFAR (SD CFAR). We do this by providing leadership, support, connection, and strategic planning. These efforts facilitate the high-impact, multidisciplinary HIV research that tackle our Center’s priorities of preventing new infections, optimizing HIV care, and developing a cure. To drive sustained and appropriately scaled progress for these priorities, we invest in training the next generation of HIV scientists and build meaningful partnerships with our local community. This extends SD CFAR’s reach beyond our region, amplifying its impact at the national and global levels.

Our Core is the strategic hub of the SD CFAR that helps the Center to function as a unified enterprise. Through coordinated planning, responsive management, and sustained stakeholder engagement, the Admin Core keeps HIV research a visible and enduring priority across San Diego, the Southwestern United States, and the U.S.- Mexico border region. By integrating people, programs, and partnerships, the Core maintains alignment, strengthens collaboration, and supports the Center’s evolving scientific mission. In short, we hold the Center together.
