Welcome to our gateway for Scientific Working Groups (SWGs). Please see below for the SD CFAR calendar of events, which includes upcoming SWG meetings.
What is a SWG? A SWG is defined as a specific area of scientific focus for a group of investigators who share common research interests and goals and seek competitively funded research. SWGs encourage collaboration across researchers who have not previously collaborated with each other, or within that area of focus. The Homelessness & HIV SWG will convene established and early stage investigators (ESIs) alongside community collaborators, service providers, and public health partners to develop innovative, and implementation-focused research strategies that address homelessness as a structural determinant of HIV outcomes.
Why? Housing insecurity and homelessness are critical structural drivers of HIV risk, prevention, care engagement, and health outcomes, and are a barrier to achieving NIH HIV/AIDS and Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) goals.
How? By leveraging SD CFAR’s strengths, such as its longstanding community-academic partnerships, strong clinical and translational research infrastructure, and expertise in behavioral, social, and implementation science.

HIV & Homelessness Scientific Working Group
The San Diego Center for AIDS Research (SD CFAR) is launching a new HIV & Homelessness Scientific Working Group (SWG) to bring together investigators, clinicians, community partners, and others interested in research at the intersection of HIV and homelessness. This group will provide a space to share ongoing work, identify collaboration opportunities, and discuss emerging research priorities.
