The Developmental Core offers funding opportunities in support of HIV research.
The mission of the San Diego Center for AIDS Research (SD CFAR) Developmental Core (Dev Core) is to promote emerging investigators and new initiatives to sustain impactful advances in HIV research. To accomplish this mission, the Dev Core will continue to provide funding, training, and other support to emerging investigators (i.e., those who have yet to achieve R01-level support).
The Dev Core remains nimble in its ability to respond to new funding opportunities through efficient processes and strategic planning activities. This Core has been pivotal in advancing scientists’ careers since 1994. To date, the Core has awarded over $12.7 million in Developmental grant funding. Remarkably, our grant recipients have leveraged this support to secure more than $350 million in subsequent funding and have generated over 1,600 publications based on their SD CFAR supported research.
The Developmental Core offers a range of services to support early-stage investigators and the broader research community. Our goal is to foster collaboration, innovation, and career development in HIV/AIDS research.
